How Much Does it Cost?
$160 per player for play on all four courses and prizes. This IS an increase on last year, due to increases in green fees at all host clubs. The standard green fee for Paraparaumu Beach Golf Club is $130 alone, so we are getting amazing deals from these great golf courses.
What?
Four day match-play tournament among groups of 16 players, seeded by handicap. Win or lose, you play every day, with a series of flights, so there is always something to play for.
FORMAT OF THE TOURNAMENT
1. Both Men and Women will be separately seeded into groups of 16 according to their official NZGA handicap index at the time entries close. In the event of a tie these placings shall be by lot.
2. It is a ‘matchplay’ on handicap event. Score cards are required for handicapping purposes and holes conceded will be assessed in the recognised manner for handicapping.
3. Losers will proceed into consolation and flight matches on the following days.
4. Incomplete groups (less than 16) will be organised in such a way as to maximise the number of matches to be played.
5. Each group will be playing for the same value of prizes regardless of handicap grouping.
6. RAFFLES and TWO's will be pre-sold for all four days at the time of registration on the first day. They may still be available for purchase on the other days. Prizes shall be given out prior to tournament prize-giving on the final day.
TOURNAMENT CONDITIONS
Open to all amateur golfers aged 50 and over who are financial members of a registered golf club. Handicaps will be limited to 36 for both Men and Women.
1. Entry fee of $160 must accompany completed entry form.
2. The Committee reserves the right to alter program times or dates and to refuse entry without being required to give any reason. The decision of the Committee shall be final.
3. All entries received by closing date will be accepted subject to field limitations. If required, selection criteria may be applied.
4. The rules of play will be those approved by the Royal & Ancient Golf Club of St. Andrews, Scotland in conjunction with any local rules.
5. Matches that finish all square after 18 holes shall be decided by a ‘chip-out’ on a designated area.
6. Late arrivals to the tee will forfeit each hole not played.
7. Any protest must be made within 30 minutes of completion of the match and the decision of the Committee will be final.
8. In the event of a course closure the committee shall decide how the match results will be determined.
WHEN DO I PLAY?
The draw for the first round will be emailed to participants 5 days before the tournament.
In previous years, tee times have usually been first at 9am and last around 11am. As we finalize arrangements we will provide closer timings.
For each subsequent day, results sheets posted in the clubhouse are to be filled by the participants, which will list their tee time and opponent for the next day (previous participants will be familiar with this). There will be instructions for where the winner and loser of each match are to post their names for the next day's play.
